Beer. Good fun to drink, but not always so healthy, what with the monumental hangover and desire to attack junk food with your mouth that it instills. So, shout-out to the folks at ReGrained, who have managed to make beer healthy – by turning it into food.

Co-founders Dan KurzRock and Jordan Schwartz wanted to find a way to utilise the by-products from the beer-brewing process. Currently, around 90 per cent of the ingredients used in making beer go to waste afterwards, but KurzRock and Schwartz have developed a method of recycling the grain used in the process, and turning it into… healthy snack bars!

The bars are high in protein and fibre, and they save a lot of post-production grain going to waste in landfill, where most of it will end up turning into methane, which just isn’t good for the planet.

The bars come in flavours including honey almond IPA and chocolate coffee stout. And yes, we know what you’re all thinking – but no, the bars don’t taste like beer and they’re not alcoholic. Sorry, but you did want something healthy, right?
