Watch: Abandoned lighthouse gets used as a giant kaleidoscope

There is nothing about the idea of turning an abandoned lighthouse into a giant kaleidoscope that doesn’t sound: 1. awesome, and, 2. like the kind of thing more people should be doing. Thus, we give the highest of metaphorical fives to the psychedelic architect brains at Bessards’ Studio and JAJA Architects, the two teams behind a brilliant transformation.

Said transformation turned the Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse in Denmark into the kind of lighthouse that Timothy Leary and Jerry Garcia would have fully approved of, thanks to a huge, wind-powered kaleidoscope inside. The ‘scope causes various incredible explosions of colour and light, also utilising the dramatic – even a little precarious – clifftop setting, complete with roaring ocean below.

Can we live there, please? It might melt our brains after a while, but it’s a chance we’re willing to take.
